My office/craft room has been an area of major neglect in my house! After being inspired to make this piece of art for the office, I decided that I need to get serious about decorating our office. Here are some of my recent office "pins" that are inspiring me.
And here are some of my picks for having a chic office!
DIY Confetti Art
25 June 2012
4:51 AM
On Saturday morning I was perusing through some of the Glitter Guide's past Style at Home articles and I stumbled upon an incredible story on Monika Hibbs of The Doctor's Closet. I loved her style of course, but I particularly fell in love with this custom confetti painting. It adds so much whimsy and fun to Monika's room and it is exactly what my office/craft room needs.
So, I decided to create my own with an 18x24 canvas that I had left over from another project. I changed the color palette to include coral, light corals and gold. The whole project took about an hour and a half (most of which was dry time) and it was free!
I started out by using acrylic paint to create small-medium sized circles with the darkest color in my palette, coral. I painted more circles on the top half of the canvas to get a falling effect for the confetti.
Then after letting most of the circles dry (not required that they are completely dry), I started painting more circles with a light coral (just my coral paint mixed with a bit of white). Some of the circles should overlap, but they do not have to all be touching.
Next I started adding the gold circles. I thought that would be my last step in the process, but I wanted to add another layer on top of the gold, so i mixed an even lighter coral on top of the gold circles.
Here is the finished product hanging in my office!
Sorry about the poor lighting, I took these pictures at night.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Happy painting! Have a great week everyone!!

Happy Wednesday! We are halfway through the work week! So...I hope you aren't completely sick of my birthday posts yet, I promise this is the last! Last night we had my family/friends birthday dinner at the Grateful Palette in Fort Lauderdale. My amazing mother in law decorated the table beautifully (see some of her other work here and here) in two of my favorite colors, pink and orange! Here just a few snapshots from the party.

I wanted to share my favorite bible verse with you today. During times of trial it reminds me that God has a beautiful plan for all of our lives, so much better than we could have ever created for ourselves. His love and His plans for us offer such peace and rest!

Happy Friday everyone! I am especially excited about the weekend because my birthday is on Saturday! My sweet husband planned an awesome beach/spa day for us, and I could not be more excited for some serious rest and relaxation!
This week for Friday's Fancies, I am re-creating one of my favorite looks from Pinterest. I love this pink blazer and white dress combination; it is the perfect mix of chic and effortless summer style!
To mis it up a bit, I incorporated some cobalt blue, a bright necklace and white shorts!
I am seriously crushing on all these pieces! I hope you all have a fabulous Friday and weekend! xoxo Meggan
Dipped

My design style typically errs on the side of traditional. I am drawn to vintage styles that are mixed with clean lines and classic colors. However, sometimes I like to mix it up and I have been loving this dipped trend in home decor! I think I have some DIY projects in my future to try and imitate this look!
I am linking up with The Vintage Apple for Pinteresting Wednesday this week. Have a great day, we are almost halfway through the work week! xoxo
My DIY Social Media Icons (Free Download!)
12 June 2012
4:04 AM
This weekend I worked on a project that I really surprised myself with...I designed and uploaded the new social media buttons that you see on the right hand side of my blog now! I always saw cute rows of social media icons on other blogs but I had no clue how to get that effect with out buying them from a blog designer. Through a lot of "googling" I was able to figure it out. I used Adobe Illustrator to draw these 45x45 pixel images, but you could also use any program that will allow you to save your image as a picture, like PowerPoint. Most of the social media sites like Pinterest and Twitter have logos that you can use to create your image.
Once each image was done and saved in either JPG or PNG format, I uploaded each one to Photobucket (you can use any public photo hosting website). Then came the tougher part for me, the HTML coding. There is a very basic HTML code that allows you to post an image with a link to your blog, but I kept messing it up somehow and I could not get the images to appear on my blog. So...I was very grateful that I found an incredible blog (here) that has the easiest way to customize your html content. You just have to insert the links to your social media sites and then also the direct links to your hosted Photobucket pictures. The HTML content that you create then needs to be added as an HTML widget.
Here is a link to download the social media buttons that I created if you want to use them on your blog! Once you get to the download page, click "Download This File".

If you have any questions about how I made these or how to upload them to your blog, feel free to email me! xoxo Meggan

Our Summer Bucket List
11 June 2012
5:03 AM
Although I don't have the summers off from work, each summer brings back childhood feelings of spending days at the lake and daily adventures. So instead of letting normal mundane things overtake our weekends this summer, Kris and I decided to be intentional about ensuring we don't let this time pass us by. To help keep us on track we created this summer bucket list!
Have you ever done something like this? We already checked one item off this list last weekend when we ate at Michael's Genuine Food & Drink in Miami's Design District...the food was aaaamazing!
I look forward to sharing our summer "adventures" with you over the next couple of months! Have a great week! xoxo Meggan
Short & Sweet
08 June 2012
4:05 AM
Happy Friday, friends! I am sooo ready for the weekend; this week has been super hectic and I need some serious down time! We are planning on relaxing a lot and in addition we have my company's annual party, which is a cruise around Ft Lauderdale. It should be a blast!
To kick off the weekend I put together a "short and sweet" outfit for Friday's Fancies. I have never been the hugest fan of shorts (fit issues from being so tall), but recently I have found so many cute shorts options that I love. These animal print shorts from J.Crew are no exception, I need them in my closet!
Be sure to head over to Long Distance Loving to check out all of the other "short and sweet" inspiration! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! xoxo
New Beginnings

I have always loved makeovers. Ever since I was a little girl I always wanted to give a makeover to anyone who would let me. Granted the outcome wasn't always cute (orange lipstick and crimped hair in the 80s) but I loved the process. Then in high school, I fully resonated with Cher in Clueless when Dionne said "Cher's main thrill in life is a makeover, it gives her a sense of control in a world full of chaos." Yes, I actually did just quote Clueless ha!
After taking a bit of a break from blogging, I decided my little site needed a makeover. Enter these adorable and completely affordable templates from Designer Blogs to help me with my makeover (thank you April for the idea!). I love the clean and fresh look...definitely a new beginning! I would love to know what you think! Have a wonderful Thursday! xoxo
