Friday's Fancies - Boho Boots
30 September 2011
4:19 AM
Happy Friday!! This week has completely flown by and am super excited for the weekend. The only bad thing about this week being so crazy is that I barely had time to blog :( I promise I will be better next week! I am going out tonight for a girls dinner at the Hard Rock (my first time going!) and then we are having people over game on Saturday to watch the Florida Gators play Alabama!
This week I am linking up with {av} from Long Distance Loving for Friday's Fancies again! The theme this week is something I love...boots! I mentioned here, that the weather in Fort Lauderdale has started to be a bit more tolerable. So my outfit for this week is a transitional boho fall outfit, featuring these amazing Tory Burch boots!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend friends! xoxo Meggan
Pinterest Fall Table Ideas
28 September 2011
7:14 PM
One of my favorite things to decorate each season is our dining room table. I never used to focus on it but I was inspired by my MIL Terri's amazing tables! She truly has a gift for design. Here is what her Easter table looked like - amazing right?! I love how a set and decorated table can make your home feel more welcoming immediately.
This weekend I started to decorate our dining room table for fall. I changed out our placemats, plates and made a new indian corn centerpiece, but then I hit a mental block. Our table is looking pretty bare right now, so I decided to search for inspiration photos.
Here are my Pinterest inspirations for our fall table!

Fall Cooking: Tomato Soup and Artisan Sandwiches
26 September 2011
7:43 PM
Today it officially felt like the beginning fall in Fort Lauderdale even though it was raining all day. I am seriously hoping that this hint of cooler air is not fleeting.
I hosted our small group for dinner and bible study tonight and the cooler air inspired my dinner menu. I decided to make a traditional tomato soup with some non-traditional sandwiches. I discovered some amazing sandwiches from Tom Collichio's cookbook WichCraft. Have you ever heard of this cookbook or been to the WichCraft the restaurant? They serve some incredible sandwiches, it is hard to pick just one!
The two sandwiches that I selected were the Roasted Turkey, Avocado, Bacon, Onion Relish and Aioli on Ciabatta and Gruyere with Carmelized Onions on Rye. These sandwiches did not disappoint and were a fun way to serve a lot of people pretty easily. One of the best parts of this meal is that you can make a lot of it before (tomato soup, sauteed onions, onion relish, etc).

For dessert I made vanilla cake pops for the first time. They turned out fairly well except that the chocolate kept falling off of the pop so I turned them upside down and placed them on waxed paper. I used the bakerella recipe with Pillsbury yellow cake mix. They may not be the prettiest, but they tasted really good!
I hope that you had a wonderful weekend and start to your week! I have a DIY project to show you this week as well as my H&M finds from this weekend and some other fun things!

One of my girlfriends believes that glitter makes everything better, and in most cases I have to agree. I love the whimsical feeling that glitter, sequins and anything that sparkles evoke. I wanted to add some glitter and shine to the middle of your week so I am linking up with The Vintage Apple for Pinteresting Wednesday to show you my Pins that sparkle!

Fall Wreath and Flower Tutorial
20 September 2011
4:45 AM
Back in February I made my first yarn wreath and it hung on our door until yesterday when it was replaced by a new fall wreath. I wanted to make a wreath that would stay current throughout the fall so I used red, gray and camel colors. I also mixed up the type of flowers that I used, but I still wanted to keep a clean and classic look so I didn't use that many.
Here is my finished product!
In this tutorial I will walk through the process of creating the wreath and two of the flowers that I made.
Supplies
- Large straw wreath with plastic cover
- One bundle of yarn (I used a heather gray color)
- Hot glue
- Felt in various colors
- Glass pearls
- Scissors
1. Wrap your wreath with the yarn. Follow step 1 of the tutorial I did in February to complete this step. I wrapped my wreath while we were watching the Florida/UT game this weekend and it took me about 45 minutes to finish.
2. Start to plan out the area of the wreath that you want to decorate. I started out by creating a focal point with a large red flower and then building out from there. I found a tutorial for a dahlia flower at Not Martha and put a twist on their creation for the large red flower on my wreath.
3. To create this flower, cut about 25 petals in the shape below from felt. Mine were about 2 inches long.
4. Cut a small circle from the same felt. Then wrap one side of a petal over the other and secure with hot glue or some other type of fabric glue. Start to glue the petals to the inside of the circle you have just cut, and continue to add petals working around in a circle.
5. Continue to add layers in a circular pattern, until you have at least 3 layers.
6. Next, cut a small continuous circle from felt and wrap for the center. It is the same concept as the next flower I will cover. Add a pearl to the center of the flower.
7. The next flower that I made is the small camel wrapped flower. Start with a small square of felt and begin to cut one continuous circle until you cut to the middle of the circle. I feel like these are harder to explain, but easier to show in pictures...see below!
8. Wrap the flower starting from the center of the flower and glue the felt together periodically. Add a pearl to the center as well if you would like to.
9. Once you finish your flowers lay them out on the wreath to figure out your placement.
10. When you are satisfied with your layout glue down your flowers, and hang your wreath!

Spring 2012 NY Fashion Week - Trend Report
19 September 2011
4:52 AM
It feels so wrong to be posting about spring, when fall has just begun. However I wanted to take a quick break from pumpkins and sweaters to talk about the trends that I saw in Spring 2012's NY fashion week. If fashion week is any indication, spring is going to be cheerful and colorful...my favorite kind of spring! I especially loved all of the bright and pastel inspired colors, pretty use of stripes and bold patterns, and gauzy white looks.

Friday's Fancies - Game Day Chic
16 September 2011
4:14 AM
Happy Friday! After being spoiled with a short week last week, Friday could not get here soon enough! As you can tell from my last post here, I am excited that football season has arrived. After meeting Kris, I truly became a fan of the game, and in particular the Florida Gators. Kris' dad is a Gator and Kris has been a fan for basically his whole life. We are going to a Florida game in November because they are playing our alma mater, Furman University. In college I was way more concerned with the tailgate than the game, so it will be fun to watch the Furman Paladins play against my other favorite team.
My Friday's Fancies post for this week was inspired by the Florida Gators colors of orange and blue. We almost always get together with friends to watch Florida play, so I selected clean and unfussy pieces that could be easily mixed and matched for the various games.
Be sure to check out the rest of the Friday's Fancies posts over at Long Distance Loving! I hope you have a wonderful weekend! xoxo Meggan
I could not complete this post with out showing you my two little ones in their Gator outfits! Harley is our Shiba Inu/Husky mix and she is wearing this adorable bandana because she hates clothing. Can you blame her? She is already wearing a sweater while living in Fort Lauderdale!
And Maggie, our Yorkie, is passed out in this picture after a long game of cheering for the Gators!
Monday Night Football, Celebrity Sightings & A Guest Post!
13 September 2011
5:17 PM
Monday night kicked off the Miami Dolphins football season, and Kris and I went to watch them take on the New England Patriots. Kris' family has been fans of the Dolphins for years and have season tickets so we typically get to go to a couple of games each year. The atmosphere at the Dolphins games is so much fun and I actually enjoy watching the game!
I have learned a lot about football through Kris over the years, especially since the first time that we saw Dan Marino at the airport, and Kris told me who he was, I responded, "oh like from Ace Ventura"? Ha! I think Kris had a heart attack that I didn't know who the most famous Miami Dolphin of all time was.
Here was our view of the field. It was a great game, but sadly the Fins lost :(
Kris and I at the game
Random candid picture 0f me trying to take a picture with Kris before he was done eating!
No lie, one of my favorite things about Dolphins games are the pulled pork sandwiches - they are ridiculously good!
Here comes the celebrity sightings part of my post. The Dolphins have several celebrity limited partners including Fergie, and there always seems to be a ton of celebrities at Dolphins games. We saw Josh Duhamel, Marc Anthony, Will Smith, Nelly, Pittbull, & Dwayne Wade. Fergie was actually sitting about 6 rows behind us in the owners box (picture below).
Also, I wanted to tell you that I was a guest blogger over at Zoe's blog, Style Foodie today! I shared my shopping guide to Chicago and my perfect fall outfit for doing said shopping. I just love reading about Zoe's adventures in Chicago and you will too!
Have a fabulous night!
